KNOXVILLE — The Westphalia Estates subdivision in New Knoxville
is well on its way to welcoming new residents.
A ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday afternoon christened the completion
of the construction of phase one of the project and welcomed in
construction on new houses in the area.
The Westphalia project began in October 2005 as a way to expand
the village."
Our ability to build in New Knoxville was (at zero)," Council
President Mark Howe said after the ceremony. "This offer
is an opportunity for new growth in New Knoxville."
The village is also excited about the other construction going
on in New Knoxville with the industrial park and the new school
renovations."
It's a good three-phase construction process to keep some modest
growth in the community," Howe said.
The parcel of land that the subdivision currently sits on includes
19.8 acres of land. The first phase, which is now in the works,
contains 17 lots, 16 of which are now for sale.
During June, the village was able to sell its first plot of land,
and construction has begun on the foundation, making it the first
house to go up in New Knoxville in some time.
The village has hired Chuck Samples from Westbury Limited in
Celina to do the construction on the project. As the project continues
to unfold, Westbury and the village will continue to work closely
together to make sure the process goes smoothly."
We did a nice joint venture," said Samples, who is one of
two partners at Westbury Limited.
Samples also added that there are many more people interested
in buying plots in the subdivision."We've had probably close
to a dozen interested," he said.
Once all of the plots are sold in phase one, Westbury and the
village will move into phase two of the project.
The second phase includes the construction of 15 plots and the
continuation of the road system.
Westphalia Estates is located in New Knoxville, off of Ohio 29
on Moulton Angle Road.
